Hi,

I wanted to say hello, to introduce myself as I'm new here.
I'm an Englishman, living in the Netherlands, and I'm currently looking for an agent, which is why I stumbled across this friendly-looking place.
I've made documentaries and written non-fiction, but I've finished my first full-length fiction.
Well, when I say finished, I'm doing the inevitable nth rewrite and polish while looking for an interested agent. I'm trying something new with this and am actually posting the current rewrite as it comes out. Feel free to take a look at http://www.sudden-noise.com/

I don't know what type of fiction you'd call this. If you have any ideas, let me know ;-)

cheers
Jerry

I've signed a contract with PublishAmerica to publish my fiction novel this year.

Hello, My name is Judy Heathcoe. I have been writing since I was 13. Between then and now I have written a ton of short stories. I lost them, gave them away, saved a few; years later I read them and thought, "Wow! That's pretty good." But life got in the way and only after the kids were grown and I began showing my age did I decide to get serious and write a novel. I wasn't so naive to think I knew it all so I began to read books on writing, subscribed to writer's magazines and attended writer's conferences. Finally my first novel, The Rod, was finished and I began to look for an agent. Several years and over 20 rejections later, I started looking into self-publishing. Then I lucked up and found a publisher, PublishAmerica, who wants to publish my book without an agent. As of now, I'm waiting for them to email me their contract offer. I'll post more comments here to let you all know how it goes.

Please stop and don't sign up with them. They are well known for being a 'print on demand' publisher who you have to pay for your own books. If you sign up with them, you will not be able to send your book out to mainstream publishers for at least seven years.

I nearly got caught out by them eight years ago, but I was lucky after I googled 'PublishAmerica' and found out the turth.

If you still want to go ahead then that is up to you, and I wish you lots of luck and best wishes.
